Was taking a stroll through the village of DonTanin, in North East Thailand in the Pra Thai district, 5 hrs drive north east of Bangkok, when we came across this lady preparing dinner for the family..
The fish was steamed in a pot outside the house while the ingredients for the gravy – comprising an extremely fragrant mix of chilli, ginger, lime, tomato, and lemongrass were first stewed over a hot charcoal stove made out of a cut wok, before left to cool in the pot placed in a pail as seen above.
And there you have it: sensationally fresh steamed mackerel fish with a hefty dose of fragrant garnish, ready to go with wonderful helpings of fluffy white Thai rice! Yum!!
