Afternoon Tea At Fullerton Bay

20140719_151511Me and an ex-classmate’s quest to find the best high teas on the island continues and this time, we opted for the high tea at Fullerton Bay Hotel’s The Landing Point which runs from 3-5.50pm daily.

Located at the lobby, it’s quite a cool chic place with a fine view of the Marina Bay Sands area. Though our two-seater was  on the side furthest away from windows facing the esplanade,  it was a comfy spot as the walking passage in-between provided us with much more “elbow” room than the tables-with-sofa seats.

The afternoon tea was a simple 3-tier affair (pictured with sets for two) offering a varied selection of savory sandwiches and sweet pastries, with plain/raisin scones as starters, all of which are refillable. And of course, there was also a good selection of coffee and tea. The mini sandwiches were really good and we were glad we get to refill another “row” of those.  The waitresses do go around to replenish but alas they only did that just once for us. In fact, the only snag at the lounge is that you have to wave much in order to get attention, whether it’s to order the next cup of coffee or pot of tea, or have the items replenished.  Which is quite odd cos there is like about 5-6 waiters and waitresses around and the place isn’t very big and everyone is kinda having the same thing bar the drinks! Take the scones for example, served separately, they were nice and warm when they first served it to you but by the time you request for a second round, the scones were already cold and hard…

Probably the troublesome bit for the serving staff is that the kitchen appears to be located quite a distance away but still, more attention given to waving diners would be very much desired!

At $48++ per person, it’s a decent high tea and great for those with a sweet tooth as the petite cakes and pastries can be super sweet. For me, the mini parma ham burger, Quiche and the (first) warm scone had me at hello…
